Project Manager – Product Development

Amsterdam
Full-time
Permanent employee

The role

At Ore Energy, we are on a mission to fundamentally expand the amount of energy society can reliably use, helping move civilization toward a more abundant energy future. We are doing this by developing long-duration, utility-scale iron-air batteries that provide safe, low-cost, multi-day energy storage for electricity grids and data centers.

We are expanding our factory and product capabilities and are looking for a Project Manager – Product Development to join our team in Amsterdam. In this role, you will lead cross-functional hardware projects from early concept development through design, prototyping, testing, validation, and production readiness.

Operating at the intersection of electrochemistry, mechanical design, and manufacturing engineering, you will take full ownership of our product development plan. You will work closely with technical leads to translate complex product objectives into clear milestones, manage dependencies, and aggressively mitigate risks. This is a hands-on, execution-heavy role for an organized and calm problem-solver who thrives in a fast-paced environment where the playbook is still being written.

This role reports directly to the Chief Product Officer (CPO).

Key responsibilities

  • Project Ownership & Delivery: Lead cross-functional product development projects for battery cells, modules, and supporting systems from concept to production readiness.

  • Integrated Planning: Maintain and drive the core product development plan, translating technical requirements into clear milestones, deliverables, timelines, and ownership structures.

  • Cross-Functional Coordination: Align and coordinate activities across mechanical, electrochemical, chemical, systems, testing, quality, and manufacturing teams.

  • Risk & Dependency Management: Proactively identify technical bottlenecks, dependencies, and risks early; assign ownership and execute practical mitigation plans.

  • Execution & Prototype Alignment: Coordinate prototype builds, validation test campaigns, design releases, and product maturity gates to ensure technical findings translate directly into project actions.

  • Agile Governance & Tracking: Facilitate project reviews, design alignment sessions, and decision-making meetings, documenting outcomes clearly without creating unnecessary bureaucracy.

  • Stakeholder Reporting: Provide clear, concise, and structured project status updates, performance metrics, and timeline projections to leadership.

Your profile

  • Experience: 5+ years of project management experience leading complex hardware or technology product development from early concept to market release.

  • Technical Depth: Ability to deeply understand engineering discussions across mechanical, chemical, software, and testing disciplines, and connect technical decisions to project scope, cost, and timing.

  • Methodological Expertise: Strong foundation in hardware product development frameworks, prototyping loops, design-validation cycles (DVT/PVT), or stage-gate/Agile hybrid processes.

  • Execution Mindset: Highly organized, disciplined, and proactive. You are comfortable working on the engineering floor alongside technical teams rather than just managing through status reports.

  • Navigating Ambiguity: Comfortable managing changing priorities, technical uncertainty, and evolving requirements with a calm, solution-oriented approach.

  • Industry Background: Experience in batteries, energy storage, automotive, aerospace, or deep-tech hardware sectors is highly valuable. Startup or scale-up experience is a strong advantage.

  • Communication: Flawless professional English. You are an outstanding communicator who can simplify complex technical realities for diverse stakeholders and constructively challenge assumptions.

About us

The Challenge We Are Solving

Do you want to contribute to one of the most important challenges of our time: accelerating the energy transition? Are you excited by breakthrough energy storage technology with real-world impact? Would you like to be part of a mission-driven company where your work directly contributes to building the future of clean energy?

Then we are looking for you.

Ore Energy develops long-duration energy storage solutions to support a reliable, zero-carbon electricity system.

Powering the Next Generation of Infrastructure

The electricity grid is undergoing its most significant transformation in a century. As renewables become the cheapest source of new power, the challenge is no longer producing clean energy, it is making it reliably available when and where it is needed, regardless of when the sun shines or the wind blows. Our iron-air batteries are uniquely designed to store renewable energy over multi-day periods, allowing clean electricity to become a dependable, around-the-clock backbone of the grid while reducing reliance on fossil-fuel peaker plants and building a more resilient, fully decarbonized power system.

This is a rare opportunity to join a company at the moment when technology readiness, customer traction, and market demand are converging. Ore Energy has already raised significant capital, built and tested its technology under real-world conditions, and is now moving toward large-scale commercial deployment. As we transition into this industrial implementation phase, we are building the team, systems, and capabilities required to scale our solution and help define how long-duration storage powers both the future grid and the next generation of industry and data infrastructure.

Our Culture & Beliefs

We believe impactful technology is built by talented people who are motivated by complex challenges, scientific rigour and strong execution. That is why we are looking for dedicated professionals who want to help shape a cleaner and more resilient energy future.

At Ore Energy, we are committed to fostering an inclusive and diverse workplace where every individual has the opportunity to thrive. We believe that diversity of thought, background, and experience drives innovation and success. Are you unsure if you meet all the requirements? Please do apply, we’d love to hear from you! Your unique perspective and skills could be exactly what we’re looking for.
